TO PREVENT CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.
(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, September 22. A deputation from the Christchurch Council of the Society' for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals waited on the Premier to-day, and asked for a Government "'subsidy for carrying on" the work. The Premier, while expressing sympathy with the work carried out by such' societies, -^thought local bodies should "-provide tho funds, and expressed an opinion that the "" police should do more to assist.
