Anxiety as to His Whereabouts.
(Per United Press Association.) CHBISTCHUBCH, September 5. A painful sensation was caused in scholastic circles yesterday by a rumour th^t tiie Eev. J. M. Marshalkpf the Wanganui Collegiate - School,, %ddj a wejl-known. cricketer, was missing. v ,\ Mr Marshall, who has been * for some years chaplain and firs^ asistant, master at the School, and was. recently appointed acting head master during the absence of Mr .Empson, came to Christchurch ten days ago to meet the Wanganui Collegiate School football team for* the annual matches with Christ's College' and Wellington College. It haß, been Mr Marshall's custom, in past years to gravel with the teem, but "this Year he wgg.in Dunedin When the team left. A few mdhths aj»O he suffered from an attack of rHeumatic fever, and a holiday was" necessitated owing to, the state, of his .. health. -' Mr Marshall came to" Christchurch .a» the, guest of Rev. Mr Cocks, vicar of Opawa, an old fellow stuHent. His'friendnoticed that his health and spirits were not so good as usual., :\' v. ,- ' * On Wednesday morniig Mr, Marshall ate a good breakfast, and about half past nine strolled into the Vicarage ground*, A member of the family saw him go out of the house and supposed he was going for a walk. At lunch" time he had not reappeared, and' was 1 , expected to return to the Vicarage during^the afternoon, but there was no 'sign of 'Uuh~ and all enquiries ■ have beeii Of no> avail.' ■- • - Most of the members of the Wansanui football team left- Lytteltbn for' Wellington by the Mararoa- on , Wednesday evening, but Mr Marshall did v n6t ; them. His friends became very anxious.
