- 'WELLINGTON, June 5.' In the Appeal Court this morning the question of appeal to the Privy Council in the Pdrt Chalmers licensing case was mentioned, 'nut, as the affidavits in the case were only filed this morning, the application- was allowed to stand over until the'oniinary sitting of the Court on the 29th inst. Tlie judgment under the Public Works Act Amendment Act, 1890, was also- put- f of ward until the 29th. Phillip White, a recent arrival from Sydney, was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment ' for breaking into the Tearo Railway Station and stealing clothing. Several prisoners, convicted of housebreaking, teanre up for Hentelice this morning.- William 'Watson, an old offender, received two years, James 1 Madden 18 months, and James Boss sine months.
George Wright (a young man f of good character) was admitted to probation for forgiug. Frank Asliton and W. Murphy were also admitted' to probation.
