AUCKLAND) December 8. A married man named Ernest Bagnely died this morning at the Mater- Messeridied this morning -at the' Mater vMisererecordia Hospital under circumstances which point to suicide. II appears deceased had been .undergoing the . open-air treatment for consumption at the Hospital, and was making a rapid recovery. During the hist week he gave way to « drinking 'bouts. At 7 o'clock this ' morning. Siste'r Jtf ary. Agnes found the deceased suffering- considerably, his mouth and lips being "burnt. On the -floor was a broken tumbler, and pn the washstand all empty bottle labelled "Spirits of Salts. " Poison." She asked what" he had taken. Deceased, pointed to the bottle, t and said, ''That bottle full." Sister Agnes administered remedies, but shortly afterwards decsased collapsed. * Dr Rowe was' sent for, but* on arrival could only pronounce the case hopeless.'
