WANGANUI BRIDGE.
The Mayor has received the following reply to his letter to the Hon. the Minister of Public Works, -which appeared in our columns & few days ago:— Publio Works Department, Wellington, June 10, 1902. His Worship the Mayor, Wanganui. Sir, — I have the honour, by direction of the Minister for Public Works, to acknowledge receipt of your letter of 4th instant, asking that the Superintendant Engineer of this department might be allowed to inspect the abovementioned bridge and report on its condition, and in reply to st*te that, as Mr Hay will probably be visiting Makohine on Monday next, the 16th inst., tbe Minister is agreeable to his making an examination of the Wanganui Bridge at about the same time and reporting on its condition as requested. Mr Hay will advise you of the date that he purposes inspecting the bridge, and the Minister will be glad if you will instruct your engineer or overseer to meet Mr Hay and accompany him on his inspection and render Turn' any assistance lie may require.
