9 THE BRISBANE RECEPTION. (iJy Electric Tolegraph. — Copyright.) iPer United Press Association.) Received May 20, 9.30 a.m. BRISBANE, May 20. Earl Hopetoun has intimated that theDuke and Duchess of York leave Brisbane on Friday next, instead of Saturday, as previously, fixed. A rehearsal of the landing- was held, the Governor representing the Royal party. He left the Government Domiin, and the steamer Lucinda landed him at Petrie's Bight, where the Mayor and the Aldermen went through the ceremony of welcoming. Hie actual lauding ■takes place at 3 o'clock on Monday afternoon. • In reply to A me-noranda submitted by the Acting-Premier" and forwarded by the Governor to Lord Hopetoun, the latter stated there was no desire to cast a slur upon Queensland as a place infectei with the plague, but there might be a slight " slc on account of the more stringent regulations in Sydney, in which case the Royal visit there might be jeopardised.' Lord Hopetoun also states that the squadron will visit Brisbane, bit it is impossible that the Ophir should do so.
