"THE NEW ZEALAND FOURTH REGIMENT."
INVALIDED NEW ZEALANDERS.
WELLINGTON, July 16. The Premier has received a cable from General Carrington, stating that the Fourth and Fifth Contingents, who have arrived at Buluwayo, have been amalgamated under the title of tho "New Zealand Fourth Regiment." Colonel Pilcher wires the Governor—"Melntyre, no reply; inquiries re Smith, nothing official, but comrades say a New Zealauder named Smith died of wounds received on May sth ; Peddle, of Brabant's Horse, was released on June' 6th." Tho following are additions to the hospitals:— J. Mackay, Third Contingent; J. W. Malcolm and J. W. Garland, Second Contingent. Tho Waimate's voyage has been withdrawn without notice. The Melntyre referred to was originally given bb Angus Mclntyro, but tbero is no onei of that name. A few days ago the Premier of Victoria wired .Mr Scddon, asking him to advise when any of our returning convalescents would be passing through Melbourne, so that they might be properly looked after. Mr Seddon replied, thanking him, and asking Colonel Pilcher to wire direct to Melbourne. The Waimato was expected to bring back a number of invalids.
