AUCKLAND CITY SEAT.

(Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 19. At a meeting of Mr J. H. Witheford's committees and supporters, Mr Witheford, in addressing the meeting, said that he had informed the Premier that he believed, in the true interests of the Liberal Party in New Zealand, ho should stand for the City seat, and that he had signed the nominationpaper, feeling satisfied that the Pr?-. mier, as head of tho Liberal Party, ' would havo no cause to regret the step he (Mr Witheford) had taken.
