GENERAL WARREN CAPTURES THREE MORE POSITIONS. SUBSTANTIAL PROGRESS MADE. FIGHTING THE WHOLE OF SUNDAY. (By Electric Telegraph — Copyright.) (Per United Press Association.) Received January 22, 10 p.m. LONDON, January 22. News haa been received that General Warren on Saturday, with field artillory, attacked a strong force occupying the northern ridge at Spionkop. The Boers replied with maohine guas and rifles. Tho British infantry fired at long range. The fight was kept up till dark. Meanwhile a demonstration was made on tho Boers' front, sailors shelling the trenches, and silencing the enemy's fire. In the evening the British infantry occupied an excellent advanced position. On Sunday General Warren found himself again confronted by strong entrenchments, and he bombarded and captured three more positions, the Lancashire Regiment and the Irish Brigade steadily advancing in the face of the enemy's fire. General Buller cabled that General Warren was engaged the whole of Sunday, chiefly with his loft flank, which swung forward a couple of miles over difficult ground, the fighting being all uphill. Substantial progress was mado.
