INGENDIARISM IN NEW PLYMOUTH.
(Per United Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, October 15 .Shortly after midnight three outbreaks of fire occurred in the most thickly built portions of Devon Street. The first discovered was at the rear of the premises ocrupiod by Bennett, watchmaker; Ford, saddler, and Ward, draper, but the Brigade succeeded iv getting the fire under before much damage was dono. Had the file got a good hold the Herald Office, as well as tho buildings named, and the Batik of New Soiith Wales would have been jeopardised. Almost immediately alter the first alarm the premises of Bayly, butcher, situated 200 yards down tho street, on the opposite side, were found to be on fire, j Hero tho Brigade had a hard struggle, but cvdntilally got the flames under, only to discover that Sole's butchery, fuithcr aloug the street was burning. With ccmiluendablo promptitude the firemen set to work again, and soon succeeded in gaining tho mastery. , There can be no doubt the (ires were tho work of an incendiary. One which, in tho morning, partially destroyed the Catholic Parish School, as well as two a few days ago, aro ascribed lo tho same wanton fiend. All tho buildings were insured. Tho damage is not groat.
