Sir David Chalmers, formerly Chief Justice of tho Gold Coast, has conoluded an inquiry into the recent insurrection amongst the natives of Sierra Leone, arising out of tho imposition of a but tax, and during which a number of whites were killed. 151 of the rebels have been sen-
tenced to death, but in half tho cases the capital sentence will bo probably be commuted.
