NAVAL EXPENDITURE.

London, January 15.

Laird Bros., of Birkenhoad, and the Palmer Company, of Barrow, have eaoh contracted with tho British Admiralty for the construction of a battleship. The Times states that the Clyde Bank and Faii-ficld Shipbuilding Companies have contracted for two more battleships. The Viokers Company, of Barrow, have contracted for the second gigantic cruiser provided for in Mr Goschen's naval scheme. The Thames Ironworks Company haye obtained a contract to construct flrst-olass British battleships, Sr. PETEnsnuRO, January 15. The Russian Budget allots thirty-four million roubles for naval construction.
