Aotklakd, January 18. The Austrian Consul has l'eceivod a cablegram fronl Tasmania ,ofioi-tng elm Woyment tb several hundred pick and shovel men on railway construction at 7s '6d per day. The Consul states that if ho can induce his countrymen to go to Tasmania on these terms ho will send the whole batch away. They would be far hotter ofi than they would be hero at £1 a week, and do away with friction with the labour people. Tho Consul will aocordiDgly try and persuade the Austrians to accept tho Tasmanian offer.
