The Wayerley Club.
(CONTIUBBTED.) Bowling matters in Waverley are now * very much in evidence. At the beginning ' ■ of the present season Messrs Muir and Balfour, with other gentlemen interested, . convened a meeting.and a club was formed, '] Mr W. Wilson being elected president, Mr Muir vice-president, and Mr Horsnell secretary and treasurer, ana Messrs Balfour, " McFarlane, and D. Taylor a committee. — The Domain Board granted a piece of ground, and four rinks were very soon ' sown down, , and it was hoped that it * ' would bo in readiness for opening on the j 17th of March, but the late dry weather - caused the green to suffer to such' ah- ;•: extent that the idea of officially opening "' it on the 17th in'st. had to be abandoned, ' \ ; . although it is now possible for two rinks' - to play. The Tennis Club very kindly' , grantee! the use of one of their courts until „ - such time as the green was ready. But 1 despite these handicaps, and the fact that, "'' '. the majority of members' were new at the * *-*■ games, the club is progressing rapidly, ih. small pavilion has been^ereoted, and the ■-■ Domain Board has taken in hand the efec- ' " tion of windmill, tanks, eto , and Mr * Thurston has been appointed caretaker.
