The Labour Difficulty.
The London Trades Council has made a unanimous appeal to all trades in the United Kingdom to assist in providing a loan of £20,000 required for the Australian strikers. A deputation of the Sydney wharf labourers waited yesterday on the ViceFreiident of the Employers' Association to ascertain definitely on what torms they would be allowod to return to work in the event of their wishing to do so. A reply was given that freedom of contract would be strictly adhered to, and this Wharf Labourors' Association resolved not to aocept, A similar move to this, on a modified scale, is on foot foot amongst the seamen.
Cardinal Moran has writton asking the leaders to suspend tho strike in older to afford an opportunity of legislation in the matter.
At a meeting of the Wellington Employers' Association yesterday resolutions were passed objecting to further holidays to tho calendar, and protesting against the Government and other public bodies taking upon themselves to proclaim publio holidays which in many cases do not meet with the approval of a large number of the employers or the employed.
