To the Hon. tho Minister of Lands.

Sir,— We, the undersigned Pahiatua village settlers, having had our attention directed to a proposal oE the Wellington Land Board to alter the tenure of some of the sessions in our settlement, humbly pray that you will (in the exercise of your high office) take stops to prevent the mutilation of a system of settlement which wo believe is well calculated to confer lusting advantages upon tho colony and on settlers who may acquire homesteads under its provisions. Further, we bog leave to state that any innovation of the kind contemplated in the proposal would be regarded by many as a broach of faith on the part of tho administration with the village settlers, fa? which we a.re quite unable to realiso the necessity, as ifc is within our knowledge that there aro many working even in this district who aro most anxious to acquire homes for their families under tho present tenure. Therefore graciously grant your potitionors' request, and we will ever pray.
