DUNEDIN.

April 20. Donald Keith, the shepherd who accompanied the postmaster Dewar in his recent unfortunate trip into the interior, has died near Martin's Bay. The Official Assignee reoovered in the District Court to-day £108 and £60 paid by White, the bankrupt, to his wife and brother within ten days of filing. A meeting was held to devise means to relieve tho distress caused by the wreck of the Taiaroa* Only five cases of distress were mentioned. The Mayor was in the chair. A committee was appointed to make inquiries as to cases of distress, and it was resolved that if a surplus remained it could be applied to any other benevolent purpose. Sixty-six pounds had been subscribed before the meeting.
