AUCKLAND.

July 23. Sir Frederick Whitaker has given a legal opinion to the effect that the fact of the Kumen polling place not being opened will not invalidate the Waitemata election.

It is stated that Dr Philson, Coroner, intends to hold a post mortem examination on the body of Barton Ireland, to ascertain the cause of his death. It is believed that death was caused by over-excitement and over-exertion in respect of the elections. July 24. Mr Mitchelson leaves for Wellington tomorrow.

Mr Buokland, the successful candidate for Waikouati, is brother to Mr Buckland, member for Franklyn North.
