The Post has the following : — Our morning contemporary has a paragraph to-day referring to the "fourth" of ' the current month having "gone off very well," and states that bills generally were met, and there is scarcely any bad paper in the market, and that "kite flying has died out. All this is vory well so far, but our contemporary proceeds to add, " Drapers • still require assistance." This seems to us a most un-called-for observation, even were it accurate. It is wholly unjustifiable to single out particular trades in this way, aud to cast reflections upon their soundness. But what makes the matter worse is that the allegation is quite unfounded, and the reflection, therefore, all the more unwarrantable* We have necessarily extensive commercial transactions with nearly every member of that trade in this city, and speaking from experience, we have no hesitation in asserting that there ai c no better or prompter paymasters in the whole business community. It is much to be regretted that these gratuitous imputations should be indulged in.
