EDUCATION BOARD.

+. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Education Board was held in the Board's office this morning. There were present — Messrs Watt (in the chair), Sanson, Bridge, Baker, Snelson, Carson, Taplin, and Sir W. Fox. Minutes. — The minutes of the previous meetine; were read and confirmed. Appointments Committee. — The following business was transacted by the Appointments Committee : The Makino Road Committee wrote applying for a pupil tea-» cher; — It was resolved that Miss Florence Sash be recommended to the Makino Road as pupil teacher. Miss McPhee ap : plied for appointment to the Kaitoki School, and it was resolved that she be appointed, pending the approval ol the com* miitee. Upper Tutaenui s JTbe _ oommitteo_ wrote accepting Miss Gray, of Halcombe, as pupil teacher.— Mr Seaton, of Bunnythorpe, wrote applying for removal . It was resolved to suggest an exchange with tho Wangaehu School.— Greatford : Mr C. Kitting, of ! Greatford, wrote applying for a cadet to asBist him in the school work. It was resolved to ask the committee to nominate a cadet for the position. — Turakina : Mr F. Parkes, of Turakina, wrote applying for an extra day's leave during the holidays. The application was granted. — Mr H. Sanson wrote applying to be appointed to the position of fourth master of the Wanganui Boys' High School. It was resolved, on the motion of |Mr Bridge, seconded, by Mr Baker, that Mr Sanson be appointed fourth master. — Miss Jopson was appointed a cadet at the Wanganui Girls' High School. Awa Huri : Mr D. Strachan wrote in reference to a transfer to the Awa Huri School. — The application was granted. — Beaconsfield : It was resolved that Mr A. M. Smith be appointed to this school, subject to the approval of the committee. A Testimonial. — Mr W. A. McCatchan, of Normanby, wrote applying for a testimonial on leaving the Board's service. — After some discussion, it was agreed to give the testamonial as requested, in a form to be used in all &uch cases. Tre Boakd's Inspector. — Considerable discussion took place as to the action of Mr Fouhs, who, it is stated by Sir Wm. Fox, had been speaking publicly against the Board, and acting in a very objectionable manner. — After a long discussion, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Bridge, seconded by Mi Snelson, after a motion of a stronger nature, which was suggested, bad been withdrawn, that the Finance Committee be appointed to receive from Mr Inspector Foulis, the books, etc , the property of the Board, in his charge. The appointment of an inspector in place of Mr Foulis being the next business, the Board went into committee to consider the matter. Whenuakura. — The secretary to the Whenuakaru Education Committee wrote urging the necessity of immediate repairs, and asking for a grant to compete the same. It was resolved to hold over consideration of the application till the Board is in funds. Fkilding. — The Feilding Committee wrote applying for a new desk and two clocks for use in the school. It was resolved that the Committee be empowered to make the repairs temporarily till the Board is in funds.
