WELLINGTON MONEY MARKET.

Messrs Chas Pownall and Co., scriveners, Wellington, report : That during the last month the demand for money on mortgage ■ investment has been very limited, more so indeed than has been know for mauy preceding years. The amount of capital offering, though likewise much contracted, is therefore difficult to place the current quotation remaining at 7i to 8 per cent, on landed security. Business of this class is apparently for the present at a standstill, and for that reason we hear of no English capital being Bent, though the market value of money there has fallen as low as 2 per cent. In Australia full rates are still upheld, and there v*is little prospect of any improvement before the opening of the new year.
