Mr Stout has given his opinion that if persons entitled to be registered as electors under sections 7 and 8 of the Registration Act send in claims, the Registrar must, after fifteen days, register them, if he thinks the statement of qualification true, notwithstanding the writs having been issued. The Government have received a telegram from Mr Bryce stating that a mimber of natives have at length submitted voluntarily, and come out of Parihaka on the order being given, without, as usual, requiring to be re moved. Moreover, Te VVhiti's chief officer, or constable, has spontaneously come to Mr Bryce and placed in his hands his insignia of authority.

The police last night made a raid on a Chinese gambling house in Taranaki-street, and arrested a dozen Chinamen for playing fan-tan.

At the Divorce Court to-day in the case of Bailey v Bailey (Dunedin), a decree absolute was granted ; Campbell v Campbell (Christchurch) a decree absolute was also granted ; aud a decree absolute was also granted in the cases of Hedley v Hedley, and Hill v Hill of Wellington.
