THE OPENING OF THE TE AROHA GOLDFIELD.

Grahamstown, Nov. 25.

A Star pigeongram states that the Te Aroha goldheld was opened by Mr Kenrick at 9 o'clock this morning by reading the proclamation. Guns were fired as he said "God save the Queen, " and the 300 men who had assembled on prospectors' claim commenced pegging out. No quarrelling. Immediately after pegging out the warden took down the names and inspected miners' rights. Mclntyre got cap of reef on their ground, but it will be difficult to tell who will get it. The following have claims : — Cornes, Murphy, Whickham and Whitaker, Reuben, Parr, Ferguason and Mclntyre, and R. MoD. Scott.
