NELSON PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.
NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION DEFEATED. (BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.) (PEOJI OUB OWK COBBESPONDEtfT.) Nelson, Friday. A no-confidence motion against the new Executive was brought up on Wednesday. The nominal grounds were that inadequate provision had been made for carrying out the Executive Act. Reid replied, showing that the Act had provided nothing but a non-official member for the Goldfields. It had provided for the Goldfields representative to be in the Executive, and not as a member of the Executive on the Goldfields, and that the Executive had no alternative, whatever might be their sympathies. The motion modified was defeated by nine to four; two declining to vote.
Donne last night brought on a motion for responsible official supervision of goldfields, but the motion was lost by one vote; o'Conor, Reid, and Mackley declining to vote. Motion to be renewed to-night. G-beymotjth, Friday.
William Dale committed for trial to-day for libel on Joseph Kilgour, mayor. Bail accepted.
