FIRE AT CHRISTCHURCH

(FROM OUR OWS CORRESPONDENT.) Nelson, Monday. The writ for the election of a Superintendent has been issued. The nomination is fixed to take place at Nelson on Thursday, October 17th. Chbistchuhcii, Monday. Jacobs's store was burnt down yesterday morning. The building, which belonged to Mr Wilson, was insured for £IOOO in the Liverpool, London, and Globe Insurance Office. Jacobs had £250 insured in the same office, and £750 in the New Zealand Insurance Company. Mr McKay, the Immigration Officer, has been apprehended on a charge of embezzlement. He has been remanded till Saturday.
