There are many attractions afforded at the 'different hotels in the evenings during the Christinas week, and all are well patronised. The variety of resources for amusement does j.ot seem, however, to diminish the attendance, each evening, at Mr Gourlay's excellent entertainments at the Masonic Hall. We have a conviction that we owe an apology to the public and Mr Gourlay for not noticing regularly, in detail, entertainments of so legitimate a character, but there is less reason for this if the public continue to attend as they are doing. If it were possible for our factotum to be he would be present in the Hall every evening. A Tea Meeting was held by the members of the Methodist Free Church last evening in Mr Eraser's school room. The room was tastefully decorated with Christmas emblems and a nice collection of flowers grown by Mr Fraser. After the company had partaken of tea and cake, the meeting was opened with prayer. Mr Alcorn was voted to the chair, and explained the friendly and social objects of the meeting. Mrs Pickering presided at the harmonium. There were recitations by Mr M'Farlane and other gentlemen, with music in the intervals. The room was well filled, and all those present appeared to lake •great interest in the proceedings, which were instructive, recreative, and social.
