His funeral was largely attended. A man named James "Wilson, a hawker, attempted to murder Mr Kinsella, inspector of the Eastern Melbourne Market, by discharging a nistal within a yard of his head. Mr KLinsella escaped with a severe face wound, and the ruffian was promptly secured.

The jury have returned a verdict of *" Not (Gr.uflty " in the ease of Shires, •charged with the murder of Mr Drummond by snake experimenting. Several petitions, asking the Assembly to pass supplies, have been presented but not received, as they were -contrary to Standing Orlers. Mr M'Culloeh's motion—to include the Darling grant in the Appropriation Act —was the only subject debated. Mr Fellows' amendment—to include the grant in a separate bill—was feebly-supported. Mr M'Culloeh's motion was carried by a large majority. Mr Francis suggested that the Darling grant should be included in the Supply Bill. Messrs M'G-regor and Duffy supported this proposition, which was rejected by the Ministry. The Opposition intended to take steps ■to ask the Government to recommend the grant. The marriage of Miss Manners Sutton to Mr C.E. Bright was celebrated this,, morning (June 25) at Toorak Chureh, by the Bishop of Melbourne, -assisted by the Rev. Mr Sandys. The eeremouy passed off with great eclat. There were ten bridesmaids, and the ■church was crowded.
