CHARLESTON NEWS.
A meeting of the Charleston Volunteers took place at Jolliffe'a Hotel on Thursday evening. Mr Lightband, "Warden and J.P., attended and administered the customary oath to all desirous of being sworn in as Volunteers. After this was over, those present—a goodly number—formed themselves into a meeting, and having requested Mr Lightband to aufc as chairman, proceeded to pass the following resolutions :—1 "That this meet ing proceed to nominate officers." 2"That the election of officers take, place this day-week, at eight o'clock mthe evening." 3. "That tho election be by ballot." 4. "That Mr Lightband be requested to act as re-
turning-Officer for the occasion." A number of gentlemen were then nominated as officers, the selection to be made by election on the evening of Thursday next.
