ALLEGED NEGLIGENT DRIVING. ACCUSED SENT TO TRIAL. AUCKLAND, Thursday. The death of a cyclist on Ist January from injuries suffered when he was knocked off his machine by a car on the new North Road, Auckland, on 22nd September, was the subject of an inquiry by Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Auckland S.M. Court to-day. The driver of the car, John Reginald Herring, timber dealer, was charged with negligent driving, thereby causing the death of Josiah Flower Carter, aged 38. After having heard the evidence, Mr Hunt returned a formal verdict as to the cause of death and committed Herring, who pleaded not guilty, to the Supreme Court for trial.—(P.A.)
