PEDIGREE PIGS
RECORDING SCHEME.
PALMERSTON NORTH, This Day
Complete agreement in the desire to have the recently announced Government scheme of pedigree pig recording put into actual operation to the greatest possible extent, was indicated at a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Pig Breeders’ Association. Several speakers expressed surprise that the scheme had not been submitted to the Association and the Manawatu and Waikato pig recording development clubs prior to the announcement in the* Press.
Mr R. C. Clark, of Pukekohe, commented on the wording of the announcement, remarking that it appeared to indicate that the two recording clubs were to be disregarded, and on that score, the recent comment of the president of the Waikato Club (Mr J. D. Caro) was justifiable, but he thought that it had been a little hasty.
Several speakers considered that instructional work was the most important. The scheme was taken by the meeting as the first step towards the inception of a complete scheme of recording, instruction and development. Mr B. E. Keillor (president of the Manawatu Club), waited on the council and discussed the scheme, saying that his club always backed up the scheme, and that it would continue to do so. The council appointed three members' to deal with any aspects of the scheme requiring attention, the two clubs, being invited to send a representative each, making a committee of five. (P.A.)
