NEW REFRIGERATING SHIP.
THE MARCH OF SCIENCE. (Received Wednesday, 10 a.m.) LONDON, Tuesday. The “Telegraph” says that science is closely allied with industry in the New Zealand Steamship Company’s 12,000-ton refrigerating ship, to be launched at Clydebank on Thursday. The Ozone will be used to maintain the freshness of fruit and meat cargoes, for which there are over 300,000 cubic feet. Sea air will be passed hourly through the freezing chambers, and the gases breathed out by the pears and apples will be blown away, thus maintaining the purity of the air.
