, The trans-Atlantic flier's, Richman!'. and Merrill, landed at Llwyncelyan in: Wales. They made a forced landing, but were uninjured and the machine was not damaged. Richman phoned Croydon saying that they had a perfect crossing, their time being about fifteen hours. He hopes to get refuelled and leave for Croydon tonight. Richman later said that they flew at about 11,000 feet. He. did not see the Atlantic for more than an hour, at a time, and must have averaged about 210 miles per hour. Sometimes they were doing 250 miles. The machine went into a steep nose dive half way across,. “We were both thrown from our seats,” lie said, “and had a hard struggle to regain control. We lost three thousand feet in height. That certainly was a scare. We landed owing to a shortage of petrol. We circled for one and a half hours before finding a landing place. There were a lot of low clouds, and there seemed to be cattle everywhere. The weather at present is bad. The reason for our silence was the failure of the radio while trying to talk to London. Croydon is sending two machines laden with fuel to Llwyncelyan.
