Approximately £2OOO would be involved, said Chief-Detective Dunlop in the Magistrate’s Court at Christchurch today, when William Wallace McClelland, a sharebroker and salesman, was charged that at Cheviot he stole £450, the property of John Graham McPherson. The police said that McClelland was arrested in Australia and arrived in Christchurch under escort on Tuesday. A remand was granted till 10th September, bail being allowed in self £2OOO and one surety of £2OOO, and the accused to report daily to the police (P.A.)
