ROAD CYCLING

MASTERTON CLUB. (By “Sprocket.”) In a 16-mile event held on Saturday, the members of the Masterton Cycling Club recorded good times, although hampered by a strong head wind on the return journey. * * * * P. Condon showed, by again winning, that with further races he will soon be starting off the scratch mark. * * * # T. Sayer rode well, but is not going as well as he was last year. * * * * E. Sayer had no trouble in collecting the fastest time honours, and would probably have won had the race been a quarter of a mile longer. * * * * O. Osborne showed improved form, and rode a good race. * * * * L. Clark, although out of training, rode well and put up third fastest time.

E* Eastwood will need further training to regain the form he displayed in the Pahiatua race.

C. Dykes, riding on his own off the 14-minute mark, was handicapped through lack of a pace-maker.

Next week the race will start and finish at the Lansdowne hockey ground, commencing at 2.30 p.m. A trophy to the value of 15s has been given for first prize, and one of 5s for second.
