STOCK MARKET
DISPERSAL SALE. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report: —We held a sale of Mr A. G. MacAulay’s dairy herd and brood sows at West Taratalii yesterday. There was a fair attendance. Buyers were very discriminate in their bidding,, and only competed for young, good quality cows just on drop. Old cows and late calvers were not wanted, and most of these were passed in. The sows met with very keen competition, and up to £lO was paid for a sow with litter. Other prices were as follow: — 2 at £B/10/-, 1 at £6/15/-, and 1 at £6 5/-. Cows realised: £5/10/- to £B/10/-. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd.,, report on the Eketaliuna sale:—We offered a small yarding of sheep and a good entry of dairy and store cattle to the usual attendance. The sheep consisted of wether hoggets and ewes in lamb. Eor the hoggets, competition proved lively but the ewes lacking condition were neglected. Realisations were: —Sheep: Wether hoggets, store condition, 22/6; aged ewes, r.w.r., 13/6 to 6/10. Cattle: Dairy cows, best, close to profit, £7/10/-, £6 5/-, £5; springing heifers, good, £7/7/6, £6/7/6, £5/2/6, £5; unsound cows with calves at foot, £3/7/- to £3/18/-; store cows, £2/3/-; empty cows and heifers, £3; coloured steers, £4, £3/19/-, £3 10/-; Jersey steers, £3/1/-.
