TURF NOTES. Pakuranga scratchings are as follows: —Dunedin Handicap: Gallio. Auckland Handicap: Cyllaros.

The .strong South Island contingent now in Sydney may have an addition soon. Queen of Song is qngaged in the chief handicap of the spring, and though she did not race so well at Riccarton as was expected, she may still make the trip to the Commonwealth. P. T. Hogan has had that idea in mind for some time, and, with the litigation over her ownership ending so satisfactorily, from his point of view, he may be induced to go on with the project. There is, however, another angle. It is reported that an Australian owner has been negotiating for the purchase of the mare, and if she is sold her early shipment to Sydney may be anticipated. Within a few days Punclxestown and Streamline will be sent to their owner’s property to be spelled. The former plainly was not himself, as he showed by his failure to run up to anything like his best form, but Streamline performed with credit. He will be brought, into commission again after Christmas, and, judging by his greatly improved form since he contested his first hurdle race last November, he can be expected to be one of the foremost hurdlers next season. He, is only a five-year-old, so he appears to have a most brilliant future. Jolly Beggar left no doubt that he was the Dominion’s best hurdler when ho won his second Grand National Hurdles last week. He will go out for a rest now, the present intention of his oAvner being to bring him back for next winter Avith. the idea of trying to set a neAV record by Avinning the race for the third time. Jolly Beggar carries Aveight Avcll, Avliile ho is a great stayer, so lie is fully equipped for his task, especially as he has developed much-improved jumping ability.
