GIRL GUIDES

DISTRICT ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the District Girl Guido Association was held yesterday, the president, Mrs H. B. Tomlinson, presiding over a good attendance of members. Mrs D. H. S. Riddiford, FeatherstonMartinborough District Commissioner, addressed the meeting, referring to the pleasures and aims of the Guide movement. She stressed the need for more Guiders, and related incidents connected with her visit to Foxlease. She went on to state that Italy, Germany, and Russia had abolished Guides and Scouts by law. They still realised the value of youth, she. said, but unfortunately had reconstructed youth movements on a military basis. Mrs Riddiford appealed to Guides to help others, and emphasised the character building value of Brownie training. Mrs Riddiford was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. Afternoon tea was then served.

A vote of thanks was passed to Mr J. Ninncs for the loan of crockery.
