Messrs W. M. Sellar, Ralph Tatliani and Frederick Maunsell, of Masterton, who have been on a vpii_t to Norfolk Island, returned to New'Zealand by the Wanganella this morning. At yesterday’s meeting of the St. Matthew’s Ladies’ Guild, reference was made by the Vicar, the Rev. E. J. Rich, to the impending departure from Masterton of Mrs H. Armitage, who he said was one of the most faithful and most valued members of the guild. On behalf of Guild members, Mrs Armitage was made a presentation by the Bishop in Jerusalem, who was the speaker for the day. At the annual meeting of the Wairarapa Soldiers’ Hostel last night, the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: — C. C. Marsack; vice-president, P. G. Ramsay; hon. treasurer, Mr 11. F. McIntyre; committee, Messrs C. C. Bennett, A. Dickason, F. J. Traynor, S.‘ J. Munn, L. Pearson, V. Greer, T. Ingley, H. J. Nitz and A. O’Leary; hon. audi- ' tors, Messrs 11. M. Boddington and R. Whyborn.
Mrs M. O’Reilly, of Clifton Avenue, Carterton, has received word by cable that her youngest brother, Mr John Kelly, of Tiutna, County Tyrone, Ireland, had died on Friday last. Deceased was only 52 years of age, and was the youngest member of the family. He leaves trvo sisters in New Zealand, Mrs M. O’Reilly (Carterton) and Mrs W. Donovan (Bangitumau, Masterton), and one brother, Mr Hugh Kelly, of Dannevirke.
The election of officers at the annual meeting of the Women’s Missionary Auxiliary of the Masterton Methodist Church resulted as follows: —President, Mrs G. F. Stockwell; vice-presidents, Mesdames Cocker, MacDonald, Rutter, Jansen and Jas. McGregor; secretary, Miss E. Beale; treasurer, Mrs A. Thomas; organist, Miss K Jones; de-puty-organist, Mrs HansgA corresponding secretary, Mrs L. JJmsjm; box organiser, Mrs C. L. Beale; stamp secretary, Miss Budd; tea convenor, Miss V. Jackson; flower convenor, Mrs Andrew; press reporter, Miss E. Beale. The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Mt. Holdsworth Club last night:—President, Mr .J. W. Lewis; vice-presidents, Messrs H. Joyce, F. Norris; caretaker, Mr J. B. Johns; secretary and treasurer, Mr B. lorns; auditor, Mr' D. B. Curry; committee, Messrs' C. West, C. Wylie, J. Wells, W. 11. Jolliffe, L. Robinson, G. Norris, C. Blake, A. Blake, Neville Ross, W. Southey and B. Morris. It was decided to ask the Wairarapa Automobile Association to appoint a representative on the committee of the club.
