In the British open golf championship play in the first qualifying round was) abandoned for to-day owing to a cloudburst, which flooded the greens, and all scores were cancelled. Play will start afresh to-morrow. At Wallasey Henry Cotton had a record round of 67 and J. Ferrier (New South Wales,) completed his round in 77. A terrific thunderstorm burst over the district at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, flooding the greens and fairways on both the Hoylake and Wallasey courses. BEST QUALIFYING SCORES.
