WEDDINGS

FLAWS—LILLEY. A wedding of considerable interest locally was solemnised at the Knox Presbyterian Church, Masterton, on Saturday, 6th July, when Ellen, Lilley, widow of the late Bandmaster T. Lilley, of Hamilton, was married to Mr Thomas Flaws, eldest son of Mr and Mrs T. Flaws, 16 Olive Street, Masterton. The bride, who was given away by Mr H. Fisk, of Pctone, wore a dress of delphinium blue windswept georgette, with hat to match, and carried a bouquet of violets and maiden-hair fern. Miss Phoebe Robinstm attended; as bridesmaid and wore a frock of fawn lace and carried a posy to tone. Mr 11. Dixon acted as best man. The ceremony was performed bv the Rev. John Davie, and a reception was afterwards held at the Hotel Midland. Mr and Mrs Flaws left by car on their honeymoon, the bride wearing a navy blue costume with hat to match. Mr and Mrs Flaws were the recipients of some very valuable presents, and will make their future home in Masterton.

VINCENT—CARTER. The marriage of Miss Mabel Carter, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. W. Carter, of Michael Street, Masterton, to Mr Athol Thomas Vincent, only son of Mr and Mrs S. T. Vincent, Hacker Street, Masterton, was solemnised at St. Patrick's Church, Masterton, this morning. The Rev. Father Moore officiated, and also celebrated nuptial mass. The bride,, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a gown of white crepe marietta, cut on long straight lines, with long puffed sleeves. She wore her bridal veil in cap fashion, caught with sprays of orange blossom, and carried a bouquet of pale pink spring flowers. Miss May Carter,, sister of the bride, attended as bridesmaid, and ivore a frock of Marina blue silk corded marocain, with hat to tone. She carried a shower bouquet of rose pink flowers. Mr J. Hanaray acted as best man. Mrs A. R. Bunny presided at the organ, and Mr B. Gnadinger sang “The Paternoster” and Schubert’s ‘‘Ave Maria. ’ ’

After the ceremony a reception was held in St. Patrick’s Hall, when the usual toasts were honoured. Mr and Mrs Vincent left later for the south, the bride travelling in a smart tailored brown costume, with liat to match. Mr and Mrs Vincent will make their future homo in Masterton.
