BOWLING
MASTERTON CLUB. The thirty-seventh annual report of the Masterton Bowling Club, to be presented at the annual general meeting, in the Soldiers’ Hostel, Essex Street, on 25th July, at 7.30 p.m., states, inter alia:—“ln addition to winning the Booth Cup, our champion pair and champion four were successful in winning the champion of champions pairs and fours, respectively; this is _ quite an achievement for any one club in one season. Our congratulations and thanks arc due to the selector, Mr D. _F. Thurston, as we all realise that it is not an easy task to select a limited number of rinks to represent a club with such a largo membership as ours. We also convey our congratulations to Messrs W. McCullough and C. Ferry (champion of champion pairs) and W. Christian, F. Davcy, W. Wilkinson and H. M. Morton (champion of champion fours). The various club competitions received solid support, and some very interesting games resulted. The winners were as follows: —Champion singles, C. Perry; champion pairs, W. McCullough and C. Perry; champion fours, W. Christian, F. Davcy, W. Wilkinson, H. M. Morton; handicap singles, W. Christian; club fours, F. Davcy, A. Weller, H. Bannister, D. F. Thurston. At the commencement of last season your committee appointed Mr Horton as greenkeeper for a period of twelve months, and wc desire to convey to him our appreciation t of his work during the season. Our thanks are due to all those who in various ways have assisted the club during the past season; especially our grateful thanks are due to our patron, Mr F..H. Dunderdale for his generous donation towards the asphalting.of the paths; also to Mr P. Kelly for donating a cup for colts pairs competition.” The report is signed for and on behalf of the committee by the president, Mr A. Owen Jones.
