NEW ZEALAND’S PREMIER

ARRIVAL AT VANCOUVER. HIS MODEST CLAIM. (Received Saturday, 12.20 p.m.) VANCOUVER, Friday. Mr Forbes arrived on the Aorangi and departed for the East. In an address at the Canadian Club luncheon he said that he believed considerable progress might be made at the conference in London regarding the problems of the New Zealand primary products in the British market. He said that he had always found British Ministers very fair and ready to lay their cards on the table.

Referring to New Zealand’s surplus he said, smiling: “We have not made things worse,” thus claiming modestly for his Government.
