BANK HOLD-UP FAILS
COURAGEOUS OFFICIALS. SYDNEY, Friday. Police report that an attempt was made yesterday by an armed man to hold up the branch of the •Commonwealth Bank at Ultimo. He allegedly presented a revolver at the manager and teller, and demanded several bundles of notes, but the Bank officials refused. The manager reached for his own revolver, whereupon the would-be thief rushed off. A shot was fired at him without effect.
