CARTERTON SALE. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:—We held our weekly sale at Carterton yesterday, when we offered a good yarding to a fair attendance. Pigs were about the same as last week and sheep were easier. There was a strong enquiry for cattle and all classes showed a sharp rise on last week. A total clearance was made as under:—Sheep: F,M. ewes, 7/6 to 10/-; w.f. wether lambs, 9/-, 9/10, 10/to 10/3; ewe lambs, to 12/9; fat wethers, to 20/-. Cattle: Springing cows, £3, £3/5/-, £3/10/- to £3/15/-; cows just calved, £3 to £4/5/-; springing heifers, £2/2/6, £2/12/6 to £3/5/-; forward cows, 34/-, £2, £2/3/- to £2/8/-; store cows, 13/-, 19/-, 23/-, 25/-,, 26/to 30/-; potter bulls, £2/11/-, £2/16/-, £3/1/-, £3/11/- to £4/11/-; fat heifers, to £3; cows and calves, to 42/-; yearling heifers, 19/- to 28/-. Pigs: Wcaners, 7/6, 8/-, 8/6, 9/-, 9/6, 10/- to 12/-; wenners (small), 3/9, 4/6, 5/-, 5/6 to 6/-; slips, 15/-, 16/-, 18/- to 18/6; light porkers, 22/6 to 23/-; porkers, 24/- to 26/6.
