BRITISH PRODUCTION
BACK TO 1929 LEVEL. RUGBY, Thursday. Britain’s recovery from the depression is demonstrated by revised figures of world industrial production given in the Board of Trade Journal. These are based on a census of production for 1930. The index figure for Britain for 1934 is given as 102.3, compared with 91.3 in 1933. The latest figure is only 1 per cent, below the 1929 level of 103.5 and represents a substantial advance from the low point of 86.3 touched in 1932. Apart from Japan, where production has risen steadily in recent years, Britain is the only nation whose production has approached the 1929 level. — British Wireless.
