PLUNKET SOCIETY
MASTERTON BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society was held yesterday. There were present:—Mosdames J. Caselberg (in the chair), J. C. Broad, R. C. Drummond, H. H. Daniell, D. Donald, E. G. Eton, J. V. Gordon,. H. P. Harrison, J. M. James, T. .Jordan, W. A. Michael, A. S. C. Robertson, T. W. Wardell and R. Miller and E. J. Wright (Mauriceville) and Hugh Morrison (Tinui). Apologies for absence were, received from Mesdames R. F. R. Bcetham, H. 11. Dawson, N. M. Irwin, .T. Miller, J. Jameson and E. Sortain Smith.
The nurse’s report for March stated: —Masterton: Visits to office, adults, 409; babies, 282; older children, 87; telephone, 138; total, 916. Visits •to homes, new cases 28, old cases 276, total 304. New eases for month, town 7; total number of babies on books, 441; total number of. older children, 438; number of new cases charted, town and country, 8. Outstations: Kopuaranga, Mangamahoe, Mauriceville, Ilastwell and Ihuraua Valley, two visits: visits to homes, 16; Tinui, Langdale, Wliareama and Taueru, two visits; new case, one; visits to homes, 32. Ante-natal section: New cases for month, 2; return visits to rooms, 4; total visits, 6. Karitane products sold, Ivarilac 341b5., Karil 21bs., Kariol 211bs. Mrs J. Miller, who is leaving the district, tendered her resignation as _ a member of the committee. Her resignation was accepted with great regret. Members of the committee placed on record their appreciation of Mrs Miller’s services and keen interest in the work of the society.
A cheque for £25 7s, being interest on the Henry Bequest, was received from the Public Trustee.
It was decided to send a letter to Mr W. 11. Jackson, expressing the sympathy of the committee to him in Mrs Jackson’s illness, and hopes for her speedy recovery. The president read her report of the work done by the branch during the year, and it was decided that the report be approved and sent, to the council and then printed. It was also decided that the balance sheet be sent to the council and oil its return printed. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr A. Owen Jones for the excellent way in which ho had presented the balance sheet. Mrs Hugh Morrison, president of the Tinui sub-branch, gave a short account of the special effort made at Tinui. Accounts totalling £4l Is 3d were passed. The car mileage for the month was 694, and tho petrol consumption 21 gallons. Thanks were expressed to the following for gifts of babies’ clothing, etc.:— Mesdames Bortliwiek, Wilton, Caverhill, N. Hoar, R. D. Penny, J. Broad, H. P. Hugo. Mrs M. Caselberg, Wellington, was thanked for two cot quilts, and Mesdames Le Comte apd Caverhill for each giving a push chair.
