MOTOR ACCIDENT
MASTERTONIANS INJURED. Three persons were injured and were subsequently admitted to the Masterton Hospital, when one of the rear tyres of a motor car, containing six people proceeding to Wellington burst on the main highway just south of Greytown yesterday morning. The car turned a complete somersault. Tho occupants of the car, all Masterton residents, were: —Mr and Mrs T. Leete, Bentley Street; Donald and John Lette, sons of Mr and Mrs Leete; Mr and Mrs S. J. Geary, Wriglcy Street.. Mr and Mrs Leete and Mr D. Leete wero admitted to hospital suffering from shock, cuts and bruises. The hospital authorities reported that their condition was not regarded as serious. The other occupants also received minor cuts, and were more or les badly shaken. The accident occurred about 8.45 a.m. about a mile south of Grcytown. Thenar was driven by Mr J. Leete, and was proceeding to Wellington. When one of the rear tyres suddenly burst the c ai . turned a complete somersault, and all the occupants, with the exception of the driver, were thrown on to the road. The car landed on its wheels again, and, but for a badly smashed hood, escaped serious damage. Dr. 11. B. Berney, ot Grcytown, was summoned, and alter medical assistance had been rendeied, three of the party were conveyed to the Masterton Hospital in the ambulance. A short time prior to the accident the car passed over a considerable quantity of broken glass on the road*, and it is thought that a piece of it became lodged in one of the, tyres, thus causing the blow-out.
