CARTERTON SALE. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report: —A medium entry of sheep, cattle and pigs was submitted at Carterton yesterday to a good attendance. Competition was keen for all classes of stock, particularly for fat sheep and pigs. A clearance was effected at the following prices:—■ Sheep. —Fat wethers, 23s to 26s 6d; ewes, r.w. Southdown, 19s 6d. Cattle. —Cows, close to profit, £4 10s; £4 15s, £4 17s 6d, £5, £5 2s 6d, £5 5s to £5 10s; springing cows, £3 10s, £3 15s, £4 to £4 os; later ealvers, £2 10s to £3 7s 6d; springing heifers, £2 12s 6d, £3, £3 10s, £3 15s, £3 17s Cd to £4 ss; yearling Jersey-cross heifers, 25s to 265; fat cows, £3 10s to £4; store cows, 11s to 14s. Pigs.—Weaners, 13s, 14s 6d, 15s 6d, 16s, 16s 6d to 17s; slips, 16s, 18s to 19s; porkers, 32s 6d to 355.
