GOLFER’S COMPLAINT
BAIL TRODDEN UPON. LONDON, Wednesday. Kirkwood, who stood third with 73 in the first round of the Irish open golf championship at Por.tmarnock, was the victim of an unfortunate incident. Playing in the second round he drove into the rough and he alleges that in the search the steward accidentally trod oh the ball. Kirkwood played out. Then, he says, that the same steward seeking the ball again, stood ou it, almost burying it. The hole cost Kirkwood seven. After that he played badly, taking 80. The “Daily Maii” says that “the steward denies that he twice trod on the ball. Kirkwood said to the steward: “There is no need for you to look for the ball. The caddie will do that.” The official then disappeared.
