MAGISTRATE’S COURT
MASTERTON SITTING. BY-LAW OFFENCES. In the Magistrate’s Court this morning, Mr J. Miller, S.M., dealt with a light list of by-law offences.. . Ernest A. Cambourn and Hector Allen, for riding bicycles after dark without a light, were each fined 10s, with 10s costs, and Horace Udy Zillwood £1 and 10s costs. Having no rear reflector, Allen was fined 10s, without costs.
“I will have to consider increasing the fines, as this class of offence is on the increase,” said Mr Miller, who added that he had to consider the protection of the public. For operating a heavy motor vehicle withiut a heavy traffic license for same, E. E. J. Brenkley was fined £1 and costs 20s 6d.
Harry Peters, for driving a motor vehicle without being the holder of a driver’s license, was fined 10s, with costs fixed at 20s 6d.
For allowing a horse to wander in Kirton Street, Harold Hume Liddlc was fined os, with costs 20s 6d. Defendant said the case was a border-line one. He had not turned his horse out on the road.
